Friday practice one started with a damp track with many cars staying in the garage. Schumacher set the early pace, but when the track dried out Rosber went faster, then beaten by Hamilton. Paul Di Resta, Bruno Senna, and Vitaly Petrov all sat out the morning session to make way for test drivers, Jules Bianchi, Valteri Bottas, and Giedo Van Der Garde.
